The September 2010 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Mandy, of “What the Fruitcake?!” Mandy challenged everyone to make Decorated Sugar Cookies based on recipes from Peggy Porschen and The Joy of Baking.

For as much as I enjoy finding excuses to add rum to just about anything, I had to stick to the bourbon on this one. And because of the inclusion of booze, I'm hoping to avoid any potential eye-rolling at yet another chocolate chip cookie recipe...making this the second in September.

This week's Tuesdays with Dorie recipe was hosted by the lovely Jasmine, of Jasmine Cuisine. She chose peanut butter crisscrosses. Because I'm a peanut butter addict, I had already made that particular recipe several times. And due my constant need to try various incarnations of peanut butter, I decided to bake/devour these peanut butter oatmeal chocolate chip cookies instead.

I'm so easy when it comes to falling for foods based solely on their appearance. Of course these brownies have a sinfully rich taste and moist fudgy texture, but they're so pretty too!
