French Macarons ( Daring Bakers )

The 2009 October Daring Bakers’ challenge was brought to us by Ami S. She chose macarons from Claudia Fleming’s The Last Course: The Desserts of Gramercy Tavern as the challenge recipe. Ami's blog is titled Baking without Fear, and I did indeed need some courage to tackle this month's challenge.
This is only my third creation as a member of the Daring Kitchen and so far the last 2 recipes are helping me touch base with my roots.

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies with Cream Cheese Filling
Every time I think of this these cookies, Louis Armstrong's song plays in my head. In fact it was playing while I was mixing the dough, scooping it out, baking the cookies, and frosting them.

Sweet Potato Biscuits (TWD)
This weeks Tuesdays with Dorie recipe was chosen by Erin of the blog Prudence Pennywise. Had she not chosen these delightful biscuits, I have overlooked them. I shouldn't be surprised anymore by the wonders of Dorie's book. I don't like biscuits or sweet potatoes but for some reason I found these to be irresistible!

Toffee Macadamia Nut Cookies
I was wrong. When I baked the butterscotch toffee cookies this past summer I thought I had found the toffee cookie from my childhood. The taste and texture that started my love affair with everything sweet that came out of an oven.

Caramel Apple Squares
Homemade caramel is fierce! I have tried melting the caramel candies before but they were too sweet and lacked the rich, light amber colour one can get when they have control over the cooking process.

Split Level Chili Chocolate Pudding (TWD)
I know what you must be thinking, Where is the split-level in my pudding? There is no way around the fact that my two story pudding became a cozy one level ramekin. My food processor can be a bit on the zealous side when it comes to blending ingredients.

Greek Yogurt Cake with Lemon Glaze
You may call me Grace. But I might not answer. Years of ballet as a child went crumbling down the sidewalk along with this scrumptious loaf cake/bread.
